View Article  Hamble trip

Had another busy week and went into the weekend knackered, Mary & I stayed in on both Friday and Saturday night. Saturday was a long trip to Hamble for Weymouth 2nds, all got there ok and played a tough game against a well prepared side. First half was 1-1 evens , our goal came from my shorty strike that took a deflection and looped over the keeper, I think it was going in on it's own but Dave Smith hit it in just in case, I don't blame him for that, I'd have done the same and better safe than sorry eh?

We lost 2-1 in the end because their ref in the second half was about as bias as one can get, he totally protected their D, blowing for anything he could think of without any attempt at consistency as soon as we crossed the 25!

I took liams football training on monday night but he's on holiday all week so work was difficult, he was on fire and scored loads of goals in the 5 a side match.

Tuesday morning I took Mary & Liam to the train station and they went off to Kay's for the week, I've got the house to myself for a change which is great for a short while, I do miss them being around there and, believe it or not, working is harder with no one around. I have to come up to the house to sign for the post, we get wills by recorded delivery every day and the postman can come at any time between 9am and noon, awkward as hell!

Last night I quit work early and made myself a curry (heated up an asda one), had a bottle of Rioja and watched 2 movies and a football match....heaven.

Working in the house this morning waiting for the postman, luckily I'm now able to divert the phone to my mobile so I'm not missing any calls in.

Busy few days but business fel off a bit at the end of the week, I deserve that as I know Monday is going to be chaos again.

I took Liam and his mate, Keith, for a good meal in the Crows Nest on Friday night that was really surprisingly good fun.

Saturday morning, we got up quite early and had breakfast outside on the sea front at the end of Portland sea defence wall at a great new restauraunt called Quiddles with Amanda & Brian. Fabulous food in fabulous sunshine with a fabulous view, however, the wind meant that all the food cooled a little too quickly, it is October after all.

After breakfast we went for a look around the sailing academy and had a coffee there, Brian hadn't seen around it even though he works next door, I think I talked him into taking a sailing course, he was suitably impressed with the facility being improved for the Olympics in 2012.

I've made a mental note to try to get Quiddles, the Sailing academy and sail laser, the sailing school, onto www.Weymouth.co.uk

Last week I asked Joe Foot if he knew who the farmer was who owns the field on the corner of Dorchester roundabout so I could contact him about writing www.Weymouth.co.uk on the big black bails that he stores in the field in full view of the A35 and guess what?   Joe contacted the chap who has agreed providing I can get permission from the council as they complained last time so I'm on the mission.

Saturday Afternoon I played for Weymouth Hockey Club 2nds against Yateley 2nds who arrived and looked very professional about it all. We ended up with a 2-2 draw, because we had a full team I was allowed to play up front which is great if you get the ball passed to you, I was given a few opportunities and on the last the ball popped out of a bad tackle in front of me and i simply hit it as hard as i can and the keeper, who was having a good game, didn't see it as the ball rocketed high up into the side netting, my 5th goal of the season.

Off to watch liam play footy this afternoon, fingers crossed for him.

Great Weekend, travelled to our away match in Salisbury,  played well but I was a little hung over because Mary wanted to go out, in fairness to her she hadn't been out for weeks because she'd been feeling so bad so I couldn't complain, however, as a result I spent more than I meant to and drank more than I should have on a night before a league game!

Still, I scored and the team played well, we lost 3-2 but we scored 5, 3 were disallowed, I agreed with 1 but there were 2 that I thought should have counted so a moral victory for us even if we didn't get the 3 points - the main reason for that was that our keeper Dan Dukes, deliberately let a shot in, he thought it was hit outside the d but......no it wasn't so it counted, he wont do that again!

Liam's birthday today and he's happy with the MP3 phone we got him, I've got to teach him how to upload music onto it now!

working tonight, hockey practice tomorrow, I'm actually looking forward to this week!

That there is Elvis, one of our cats, she's a she! i know, we couldn't tell when she was a kitten and the name stuck before she was diagnosed!

Off to town to get my hair cut now!

Hockey saturday, dunno what happened but I was up for it, the moment the game started i felt good about it all. I was played at left back, my favourite position and immediately started controlling the game. I held my position high and on our first attack i crossed a hard low one accross the face of the keeper, our 2 young forwards weren't ready for that one but it made them realise the sort of service they could expect.

Although we dominated the first half, we only mnanaged to score one in that period, I was striking shorts and hit the keeper but the rebound was slotted home so we went in to half time 1 up.

The second half started even better and one of the really good players had turned up, Joe Foot, and gave them something to think about on the right. I was distributing well and even able to get the ball straight to Joe from left back which means the game was very open, he got a couple of crosses to an older attacker who'd subbed on, Smithy who grabbed a couple of goals from a yard out as usual.

I took a few more short corners and we had a couple of moves worked out that kept the opo runners busy and guessing. i hit one straight in from top D to the keepers right that he didn't see then I got another goal dribbling in from left back, beat a couple of players and found myself at the top of the D again, I didn't need a second invitation so I struck it goal wards, not very cleanly and it bobled a bit but found it's way into the net, even bad golas count!

We won 6-1 and that puts us joint top of the league, watch this space, we'r playing Salisbury 2nds on saturday and I have no idea what they're like as they seem to blow hot and cold each season.

All week I've been suffering from a bad stomach so I hope I'm up to speed again on Sat, last nights training was a disaster and I need to talk to the captains again about the organisation as the numbers turning up are impressive for the club but seem to overload the pitch, something needs to change, I know as soon as it gets cold and wet the numbers will drop though.

Back to work.....

It's been a busy one, I've done the usual work thing but also trained Liam's footy team again on Wednesday night before my own hockey practice which I had to take for the 2nd & 3rd teamers, the 1sts doing their own training up the other end of the pitch. It's odd not being involved in 1st team training any more, I'm happy to be bowing out because I know I'm too old for it but even last season I was up there training with the 1sts and now not.....as I said, feels odd!

Thursday I spent in the office all day after a quick cycle ride first thing in the morning, nice to be outside. I had a couple of Clients to see on Portland at 5pm but just before that I found myself getting into an argument with a client on the telephone, she'd made 3 errors filling a form in and in separate e-mails told me about all 3 but I only received 2 of the amendments at normal e-mail speed, for some reason the 3rd was delayed so I wasn't aware of it. I printed the will with only 2 amendments done so when I opened her 3rd e-mail I was anoyed at the waste of time and effort she'd caused me, if she'd filled the form in correctly in the 1st place none of it would have happened. Anyway, I told her that on the phone and she put the phone down on me and I went off to see the Portland clients grumpy.

This morning I came down and made the 3rd correction and e-mailed the 3rd draft off to her along with an apology,I hope she's ok now, I had an e-mail back thanking me for the apology anyway.

Mary's off to school this morning, I'm working until lunchtime then Mary's dad is over in Weymouth so I thought I'd meet up with him, and probably call my mum & dad to have a sandwich somewhere.

My old phone's a bit knackered so I've been looking at the iPhone adn quite like it, not sure if I can justify such a lot of money on it though.

I've got to see clients in Weymouth first thing tomorrow morning (yes, on a Saturday!) then my match is a home game, the first league game of the season, lets see how we start off eh?
