Llanishen High School

Probably the less said the better, I was called Tich because I was so short and in my year there were probably 15 lads from Lisvane Primary School like me, tying to find their feet in the new big school but we’d come from the rich area posh school so we were pretty easy targets. Still, managed to enjoy it to a certain degree, that is to say I hated school lessons but enjoyed playing footy at break times with my mates.

The school itself was a 1960’s brick build ugly building that did little or nothing to inspire kids. Again, I was top stream and found it all pretty easy but I could bring myself to stay on after my ‘O’ Levels (I got 9 straight off) even though everyone expected me to go to University, I thought that a career as a Locksmith’s apprentice would be heaps more fun…. and it was, I loved it.

Best thing about the school – the conker tree.
