Raving mad to think that 5 years ago today I woke up with chest pains, had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital, they saved my life. Can’t say enough good things about the Ambulance Service and Dorchester County Hospital. If you want to read about everything that went on over the day of the heart attack and the following couple of days then please read my post in this blog from Nov 2012.
5 Years on and here’s a little update, I feel fine, I’ve changed my lifestyle considerably, I work less, earn less but have a life that is as good as I’ve ever hoped for. For example, Mary & I have just come back from the Gym, it’s a Tuesday morning and we’re in control of our time enough to decide when we’re going to work. We’re off out to lunch in a minute, celebrate the 5 yr anniversary in style, I dare say we’ll have a bottle of wine too. Why not eh?
This weekend we’re going away for a few days for Mary’s birthday, just as we’d planned 5 years ago but had to cancel due to my heart!
Yes, I now have to take 5 tablets a day and some people have said to me “I’d hate to do that!” ButI say I couldn’t care less, if that’s what it takes to stay alive, I’m in!! Pass the tablets!!
For those who haven’t seen the pics of my heart, here’s a before and after, there’s 2 arteries that don’t show in the before pic because they didn’t have any blood in them, the 2 stents I had fitted corrected that so they show in the after shot!
The only down side to my feelings today is a phone call with a person who’s been one of my closest friends for 30 years who’s had some bad news of his own that knocks my little episode into a cocked hat. The message from me to anyone reading this is it’s important to get it all into perspective, family & friends before work and money! Get the balance right now whilst you can!
My thought’s at this time are with him and his lovely family, he knows that I hope.
